This is because the Leopard edition of ntfs-3g is not compatible with Snow Leopard. The work around is by installing the new drivers for Snow Leopard (ntfs-3g-2010.1.16-macosx).
Users of Huawei 3G modems might also find that their 3G modems fail to initiate/connect (because the connection application abruptly exited or unable to establish connection). Again, this is due to driver issue. The simple workaround is to uninstall all the applications/drivers provided by the telco/3G modem and install the updated drivers from Huawai (HuaweiDataCardDriver(2.6)-intel). Reboot after the installation and create a new connection (system preference->network), create a new service and select Huawei Mobile interface.
Key in the default phone number, *99#. Click on advanced and select Generic vendor and GPRS/3G modem. Enter the Access Point Name (APN) if required (default is internet).
